Use your temporary email with iMessage & FaceTime

Apple may let you add an email address to your Apple Account and use it as a contact point for Messages and FaceTime. A disposable inbox is temporary, so only use it if you understand the recovery risks.

1. Create your temporary inbox

  1. Tap Generate email address above.
  2. Tap Copy and keep this page open so you can receive Apple's verification email.

2. Add it to your Apple Account

  1. On your Apple device, open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Open Sign-In & Security, then find Email & Phone Numbers (wording may vary).
  3. Choose to add an email address and enter the temporary address you copied.
  4. Return to this inbox, refresh it, and open Apple's verification email if one arrives. Follow its verification steps.

3. Check Messages and FaceTime

Important: This does not create an iMessage or FaceTime phone number, and it does not guarantee Apple will accept a disposable address. Apple may block it or request another verification method. The inbox expires after 24 hours; if you lose access, you may be unable to receive future sign-in, security, or account-recovery messages. Use a permanent email for your main Apple Account whenever possible.

4. Remove the temporary email after use

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Apps → Messages → Send & Receive. Under the addresses where you can receive iMessages, uncheck the temporary email. If it is selected for starting new conversations, choose a different address.
  2. Open Settings → Apps → FaceTime. Under the addresses where you can be reached, uncheck the temporary email.
  3. If you added it to your Apple Account contact details, open Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Email & Phone Numbers, select the temporary address, and choose the remove option. Apple may require another verified email or phone number first. Menu names can vary by iOS version.

Check all three places before the inbox expires. Turning an address off in Messages or FaceTime does not necessarily remove it from your Apple Account.
